Our new approach to culture for a new era in the world of work
Jo Webb
We’re excited! We’ve been working on our rebrand for the last few months and today’s the day we’re going to share the results of our work with you.
But first, why did we rebrand?
We’ve all seen the recent falls from grace of powerful companies that hadn’t put in place the foundations of a great culture – Uber, Nokia, Facebook to name just a few. The rebranding process was a chance for us to define how sustainable success for any business starts with the organisation being as human as the people who work in it.
Imagine a workplace where people, purpose and performance are all prioritised. Imagine a place that has a really strong identity and spirit that drives everything in the business – what you do and how you do it. Better still, imagine a place where people are set up and supported to make the most of their unique talents. A place where there’s a commitment from everyone to work collaboratively for the common good.
So, why have we developed this new approach? Allow us to explain a little more.
We’ve been working in the world of culture, leadership and performance for some time now. Here are two big-time things that we’ve noticed:
1. Typical approaches to culture are flawed. The perks don’t work - think ping pong, bean bags and beers; simply chasing financial targets doesn’t work; and displaying inauthentic company value statements on walls and coffee cups doesn’t work. We can tell you there’s zero evidence any of these approaches lead to sustainable success over the long-term.
2. The world of work is changing. The current and next generations (millennials and Gen Z) are demanding much more than a big salary, perks or a playground environment to work in. They’re motivated by making a real difference in the world, having the opportunity to contribute to something meaningful and by being able to grow personally as well as professionally.
To create our new approach, we blended the principles of high-performance with a caring, human curiosity about what it takes for people to thrive at work. We call it soulful science. The upshot is a culture that generates brilliant people driven results. And, with our soulful science approach, we believe we have the power to transform people’s experience of work - meaning they have less stress and more fulfilled lives.
So there we are, our new approach to culture for an exciting new era in the world of work. Sound too good to be true? Not at all. With a bit of hard work, commitment and focus, you too can enrich your culture, elevate your performance and expand your impact.
We’d love to hear your thoughts – please do get in touch and let us know what you think.
