5 things that will move your performance from good to great!

Ever wondered how to propel your personal performance from good (or even bloody good) to outstanding?

Inspired by attending K2’s ‘Performance Fest’ last Friday, where I had the pleasure of immersing myself in a day of mind-blowing creative learning – from Brazilian drumming to martial arts, learning to choreograph and even coding an app – this afternoon I got on my bike and cycled along the river in search of a different place to work. Sat in the sun with a view of the river and Richmond Bridge in the distance, I then reflected on my 5 key performance learnings from the day - learnings that will help take your performance from good to incredible:

  1. To be the very best you can be, you have to put yourself outside of your comfort zone.  Be prepared to do things that will stretch you and make you feel a little bit uncomfortable

  2. Continuing to do the same things will never get you to extraordinary. You have to be prepared to try new things to reach new levels

  3. Learning should be fun. In fact, when you’re having fun, your performance will improve the most

  4. Accept that you’ll never get to perfect. And sometimes you have to be prepared to let go of your ego and be ok with being less than perfect. Otherwise, you might never find out what you can really achieve

  5. Don’t put off starting to work on your performance. Consider the things that you can do today to make yourself just 1% better. Put a plan of action together and monitor your progress regularly

How relevant are each of the points above to your personal performance? Committing to doing even just one of these five things would be a great start in helping to transfer your performance from good to extraordinary!

With massive thanks to K2 and all the other amazing performance experts that led us through each of the creative learning experiences at the ‘Performance Fest’ last week.
